NVIDIA DLSS
31 January, 2023: By Ajoy Maitra

Nvidia DLSS technology, powered by the RTX graphics card, is a game changing advanced super sampling to improve visual fidelity.

The core objective of the Nvidia DLSS technology is to improve the gaming performances and maintaining an advanced overall visual fidelity in a game. Being a performance multiplier, DLSS focusses mainly in boosting the game framerates.

DLSS SUPER RESOLUTION WITH AI

RTX graphics cards utilizes their Tensor Cores to perform high-performance computing tasks in processing the in-game resolution. DLSS lowers the input resolution to 720p or around and samples multiple lower resolution images to display it in the native resolution.

DLSS Super Resolution lowers the resource utilization in graphical processing with a much low resolution and thereby enhances the overall gaming performance.

Rendering from the lower resolution to a higher scale of native, DLSS combines the anti-aliasing with high level of sharpening which is automated by AI. Such has transformed the gaming world to a next level of pushing extreme performance without compromising on the image quality.

RAY TRACING AND DLSS

NVIDIA Ray Tracing

DLSS would be much helpful if it was available for a low-end graphics card. However, this advanced technology of AI utilizes the power of RTX cards only.

Ray Tracing tracks the movement of light and displays a higher quality of real-time shadows. This enhances the overall visuals with natural global illumination. Ray Tracing increases the utilization of GPU power as it a computationally intensive technique.

Ray Tracing combined with DLSS boosts the gaming performance as much lower resolution is required to be processed and the RT cores perform much effectively in rendering the ray traced scenes. DLSS thus adds worthiness to Ray Tracing by making it more optimized and playable with high framerates.
