Twitter has received an overhaul to the brand logo as it has now been renamed as ‘X’. It was way back in the year 2017 when the project ‘X’ was planned by Elon Musk.
After recently acquiring Twitter on October 28, 2022 for $44 billion, Elon Musk already shared his intentions on bringing the application to support Freedom of Speech. As he stated while acquiring Twitter,
The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilisation to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence.
To a sudden surprise to everyone, Twitter got its rebranding on July 23, 2023 as the CEO Linda Yaccarino and Owner Elon Musk teased the brand logo ‘X’. The change appeared Monday morning on July 24, 2023 as the bird logo got replaced with a bio reading: “What's happening?!”

It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.

With this exceptional transition to a new logo, Elon Musk aims to rebrand a complete new future for Twitter and its users. For over a decade, Twitter has been an official social media application, preferred as a communication mode with accounts of world leaders or business owners. Allowing a new vision to it, Elon Musk further plans to make it as an ‘everything app’.
The urge for a global financial transformation of Elon Musk continued since back in the year 1999.
Similar to the WeChat mobile application in China, it has always been a future endeavour of Elon Musk to launch an all in one application. As recently tweeted by the writer Walter Isaacson, whose upcoming project is on Elon Musk himself,
The infatuation of @elonmusk with the name https://t.co/CZLJi8uLXZ goes way back. Here are some excerpts from my upcoming book, https://t.co/7JGHd10lOC

Finally, it is time to get a major update wherein the former social media platform will be transformed into ‘the everything app’.
Starting from messaging and sharing media as were already there, Twitter will include other transactional services as well. Not only restricted to general monetary transactions, this will turn into a super app with the inclusion of crypto currencies.
After this rebranding, the analysts and brand agencies are forecasting it to be a big mistake estimating a value of around $4 Billion to $20 Billion. As per Steve Susi, director of brand communication at Siegel & Gale,
It took 15-plus years to earn that much equity worldwide, so losing Twitter as a brand name is a significant financial hit
On matching with the WeChat application of China, Twitter has planned to provide complete solutions starting from social media, transactions, investments and many others yet to be revealed.
Elon Musk has also started a new AI company known as x.AI which will work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies. xAI is declared to understand the problem much better and in depth to provide ‘Theory of Everything’ by the use of heavy computing.
With such a leverage of technology by the side of Twitter, it is set to become more than just a general social media application.
